Festival History

OUR FIRST YEAR!

Join the Lethbridge Public Libary on September 25th to celebrate Lethbridge's first The Word On The Street Festival with a block party like none other. There will be live music, spoken word performances, author readings, presentations and workshops, children's programming, face painting, a marketplace with a wide variety of exhibitors and vendors and all kinds of festival food! This all ages, spill-on-to the street community event has something for the whole family. The best part being... its FREE!

A National Tradition

Lethbridge is proud to join communities across the country in a national celebration of literacy, storytelling, and the literary arts!

In this role, the Festival’s mission is multi-faceted; to celebrate the power of the written word to connect us all; to acknowledge and promote writers, publishers and literary arts organizations in Alberta; to build bridges between literary arts and literacy in southern Alberta; to involve Aboriginal writers, theatre groups, and storytellers as integral contributors to Alberta’s heritage and culture; and to ensure The Word On The Street Lethbridge represents the diversity of all our community and is accessible to everyone.
