A staggering 275,000 Canadians attended The Word On The Street book and magazine festivals in Vancouver, Toronto, Kitchener and Halifax on Sunday, September 27, 2009. For the first time, the festivals were connected by LongPen technology to hold Canada’s first live coast to coast book launch of Margaret Atwood’s The Year of the Flood.
August 26, 2009 - The Word On The Street National Poster Image Created by Charles Pachter Celebrated Toronto artist Charles Pachter has created the 2009 poster image for Canada’s national book and magazine festival, The Word On The Street, featuring one of his signature moose. The poster will be used by Vancouver, Halifax, Kitchener and Toronto to promote the annual September festival which celebrates reading and advocates literacy.
