Frances Itani, Member of the Order of Canada, is the author of award-winning novels, short stories and poetry. Her bestselling novels Deafening and Remembering the Bones have been published internationally. Her latest novel, Requiem, tells the story of a Japanese Canadian artist whose childhood was spent in an internment camp in B.C. Itani has travelled extensively, taught for many years, and has been involved in humanitarian and volunteer work all her life. Before writing, she practised nursing for eight years.
