For the past 19 years, The Word On The Street has been renowned for the quality and diversity of its family programming and our 20th edition is shaping up to be no different.

 

Here’s a quick glimpse of what families can enjoy in KidStreet in 2009:

Some of Canada’s top children’s publishers will be on-hand showcasing their newest books and magazines.  Make sure to drop by the Owlkids booth and check out Chickadee’s 30th birthday bash!

 

 

KidStreet Activity Guide brought to you by the editors of Owl and Chickadee

 

We are pleased to announce that Owlkids will be presenting our KidStreet Activity Guide this year!  All of the info you need on our fantastic children’s programming will be available in this guide, plus activities featuring some of Owl and Chickadee’s most loved characters!

 

 

 

Programming Venues

 

Children’s Activity Tent

geared to ages 4-11

 

This venue will feature creative crafts and interactive presentations inspired by new children's books, plus music and animals too!  Confirmed participants include: Barbara Klunder, Helaine Becker and Little Fingers Music.

 

Children’s Reading Tent

geared to ages 4-11

 

Come and see some of Canada's most renowned children's authors and illustrators present some of the best children's books of 2009.  Confirmed participants include: Charles Pachter, Barbara Reid and Frieda Wishinsky. 

 

 Little Readers Tent

geared to ages 0-3

 

Featuring segments by early-literacy experts, this venue will offer storytelling, rhyming activities and music for kids age 0-3 while tricks and tips are dispensed to parents on how to introduce early-literacy into their daily schedule.  Confirmed participants include: Celia Lottridge, Toronto Public Library Ready for Reading Program and the Parent-Child Mother Goose Program.

 

TVOKids Stage

all ages

Favourite personalities from TVOKids take the stage for a day of fun-filled literacy-focused entertainment including music, stories, readings and interactive sessions.  Confirmed participants include: Gisèle, Polkaroo and Melvin.
