For the past 21 years, The Word On The Street has been renowned for the quality and diversity of its family programming and our 22nd festival will aim to do the same.

We are pleased to announce that Owlkids will be presenting our KidStreet Festival Guide again this year!  All of the info you need on our fantastic children’s programming will be available in this guide, plus activities featuring some of Chirp, ChickaDEE and Owl's most loved characters!

Children’s Activity Tent

 

The Children’s Activity Tent features fun for all ages, includingcreative crafts and interactive presentations inspired by new children’s books and music.

 

  • Join in on a Q&A session/game show with OWL and ChickaDEE editors Craig Battle andLesley Black
  • Enjoy a reading and quilt-making activity with Nan Forler
  • Take a dance break with Ann-Marie Williams
  • Join Charlie for some music and fun at the ROCKgarden Party
  • Learn about space with Peter McMahon andmake your ownpencil eraser gravity simulator
  • Draw your own comics with David Lapp
  • Bop along to music withNancy Kopman!

Children’s Reading Tent

 

The Children’s Reading Tent is the place where children aged 3 to 12 can meet and hear their favourite authors and discover brand new ones. Just some of the fantastic presenters that will be on hand to read from their new releases include:

 

  • Début children’s authors Annika Dunklee, Michael Moniz, Nicola Winstanley and Cybèle Young
  • Plus some of Canada’s best known and award-winning authors, such as Helaine Becker, Cary Fagan, Monica Kulling, Mahtab Narsimhan, and Nicholas Oldland.

TVOKids Stage

 

all ages

 

Favourite personalities from TVOKids take the stage with a day of fun-filled literacy-focused entertainment that includes music, stories, readings and interactive sessions. Children will love to dance with their favourite TVOKids personalities, and don’t forget to keep an eye out for Polkaroo!
