Frequently Asked Questions
|
What does it cost to attend? The Word On The Street and all of its activities are free.
What is the festival rain date? The festival does not plan a rain date. We celebrate reading come rain or shine.
Where is Queen's park? Queen's Park is situated just south of the Royal Ontario Museum (at Bloor Street West and Avenue Road/Queen's Park) and north of the Ontario Legislative Building (at Queen's Park Crescent and Wellesley Street West). The Word On The Street shares September 27th with another major event - the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. A series of road and lane closures and intermittent delays will take place to accommodate both events. The public is encouraged to use public transit (TTC and GO) as a convenient, alternative choice wherever possible.
When will the full programming schedule be announced? Look for an announcement in early August. Sign up for The Latest Word, The Word On The Street's e-newsletter, to get the programming schedule first.
I want to attend a reading. Where are the reading venues? All venues are located outdoors in tents, most of which are located within the park. Please refer to the site map for more details.
What do you offer for children? The festival has an area called KidStreet that is dedicated to the needs of children and families. All exhibitors are displaying merchandise for children or parents, and there are several venues that feature programming specifically geared to children under 12. For parents bringing toddlers and babies, we have a fully-stocked Parent and Tot tent so you can change and feed your young ones in privacy. Children are welcome at all venues, however we advise that you review the programming descriptions to ensure that content is appropriate for children. |
Is the festival wheelchair accessable?
The Word On The Street is wheelchair accessible, but visitors should know that some events are located in the park, on grass. The festival features wheelchair accessible port-a-potties as part of each port-a-pottie bank (of which there are three in the park).
How do I volunteer? Please register online. Our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you shortly.

I lost an item at the festival. Do you have it? Items collected at the Festival's Lost and Found are available to pick-up at the Festival Office through the month of October. Contact us to see if we have your item.
Are dogs permitted at the festival? The Word On The Street takes place in a public park where dogs are permitted. Please keep your dog on a leash and enjoy the day! |
