Join Owlkids staffers Craig Battle and Lesley Black for a “best of Owlkids” presentation featuring a You Asked? Q&A session, an interactive eco game show, and an opportunity to be a part of a human “machine.” Participants will walk away with a free issue of OWL or chickaDEE! Ages 6 & up.

  • 12:15 - 1:00 :: Winterberries and Appleblossoms: Reflections and Flavors of a Menonite Year by Nan Forler

    With an evocative poem for every month of the year, young Naomi introduces us to her family and hosts a journey through the seasonal rhythms of her rural Mennonite community. In the winter there’s a quilting bee, spring months bring the hard work of clearing the fields, under the hot summer sun there’s home-made ice cream, and a horse-drawn buggy to drive, and in autumn, Naomi must help sell produce at the road-side stand, while she thinks of the snows to come.

  • 1:15 - 1:45 :: Learn to Speak Dance by Ann-Marie Williams

    Learn to Speak Danceis a book for anyone interested in dancing — whether they want to perform centre stage or simply can’t wait for the next episode of So You Think You Can Dance. Join author and dance instructor Ann-Marie Williams as she teaches kids some of her favourite dance moves. By the end of this presentation, kids will have a mini-routine down pat. Kids are encouraged to participate, but spectators are welcome, too! Ages 6 & up.

  • 4:00 - 4:45 :: Toronto Cartoonists Workshop by David Lapp

    Would you like to learn how to draw your own cartoons, comics and/or comic strips? Bring your creations to life with Cartooning 101! Cartooning 101 provides an introduction to the magical world of cartooning. Students of any ability will be given the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of basic storytelling and drawing skills - from stick figures and basic shapes to animation and movement. Ages 7-13.
     

    David Lapp is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art. He has been teaching art at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Avenue Road Arts School and in Regent Park for over 12 years.
